I have 2 Catalina rods (PE4 and 6) and love them. What's your budget and use - boat/land?? - Just bought (my chrissie prez) an Azusa rod for 10kg (think its rated 7-10kg) and it's even better (my new baby). They have a couple covering that line rating (mines 2pce, 6 and a bit footer).

Azusa are a damn fine rod. so very light weight yet damn strong. my 1-3kg has thus far been bulletproof and my next rod purchase will be Azusa also me thinks.

You could get a custom for that sort of money

MHX do some nice blanks that would be suitable.(with limited lifetime warranty) As do Samurai(1 and 2 piece). Just a thought.

Azusa

Azusa rods are damn good, very light and made with quality guides etc. I was lucky enough to me the owner Yoshimoto Motoi once, great bloke and he is excellent with any warranty issues. Pretty sure he was a designer for Daiwa rods for a while and he sure knows his work. .....I hope Santa is reading this.....

For reels that is. As for rods have moved to diawa and love all I have.  my latest Black label SSS 641LXS is sensational but obviously not the 8-10kg range. The demon blood looks the part.
