A New Family Record
Went out to the first bank off Jurien on Friday with my oldest (Connor) and youngest (Marshall) sons for a bit of bottom fishing and Marshall caught his first legal dhufish (56cm) at the age of 10 years 3 months, which beat Connor's when he was 10 years 7 months! That was our first fish of the day, I then got a legal dhuie and baldie on an octo jig, before Connor followed up with two baldies, then Marshall completed the bag limit with another baldie. Smallest fish, 46cm, biggest 63cm.
Total fishing time was just on two hours...I then asked the boys if they wanted to play around with the jigs but they didn't want to risk killing something that would be going back anyway. Very happy with our Jurien trip so far, we got about a dozen tailor to 46cm on lures this morning (all released), hoping to get out to the bank again tomorrow, and of course another shot or two at that shallow water snapper lump from the other day. Towards the end of next week is looking promising weatherwise so we may just have to stick it out until then!

Good stuff. I find it much
Good stuff. I find it much more rewarding to see my family catching fish than catching them myself too.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Should clarify...
...the biggest fish at 63cm was the jigged dhuie, baldies ranged between 46 and 51cm. Depth was 47m. Marshall also got a sized snapper early in the piece but it was released in anticipation of bigger/better things.
Oh yeah, we dragged a skirt 5 miles out and 5 miles back for no result but you gotta be in it to win it!
