Do they come in canary yellow?

And the line capacity looks pretty ordinary to me unless I'm reading it wrong?? ~240m of 40lb braid is pretty average if you ask me for a "20" size O/H reel. You're likely to use it for bottom bashing and IMO you'd be looking to spool it with 50 - 65lb braid if you are half serious. That'd take it under 200m.......probably fine to use, but I'd personally like a little more "wiggle room" on the capcity side of things.

But maybe I'm looking at it all wrong - happy to admit I'm wrong if anyone can tell me otherwise.

The 20 is quite a small reel. With the drag pressure they put out if you cant stop it with 240 meters your in trouble.

I wouldve thought they bring them out in the Saltiga models first before it gets watered down to the Saltist range.

The 20 is tiny, its about as big as a calcutta 400! Think about it like this, you wouldn't go bottom bouncing on less than a saltist 30H and even then most people go for the 40.

Its really going to put it up the likes of avet and accurate more than anything.

The 20's would make a terrific PE 3/4 jigging and demersal trolling outfit for my style of fishing. Will be keeping a close eye on them.

Id I didn't have my avet sx two speed with magnetic cast control, I'd be after one as well.

After they've had a bit more road testing I'll be after one to replace my saltist 30TH most likely.

Lever Drags

Sat, 2009-05-30 07:24

Personally don't like 'em for bottom bouncing....I like to fish with reel in free spool, always maintaining contact with the bottom, and much easier to re-engage with simple "on/off" switch. As Huggy said, probably too small to be an effective troller for long runners like tuna/macks, not enough capacity for that....but could see it as a good jigger or even a nice little casting setup. Perfect for those big snapper off the rocks in winter!
