New boat, new opportunity
Submitted by Timmy on Wed, 2012-03-07 00:39
Just wondering if somebody could help me with some spots around my area ( I launch from mindarie) been in wa a few years but only recently got myself a decent offshore boat. I'm back every 2nd week and I love my fishing. I have seen what WA has to offer, just need to be pointed in the right direction.
Regards, tim

Get yourself some charts if
Get yourself some charts if you don't have a chart plotter and look for the contours that look like lumps. There should be lumps around those contours somewhere. That's all I've done out of Point Peron and I've enventually found some ground in close and out deep. You might have to do a bit of sounding around but you'll find something.

Mindarie
Look up the Mindarie sea sports club. Have a word with them or join up if you can then you will most likely get all the info and advise you need.
Being in the club help my fishing.

Go out and turn right after
Go out and turn right after you have passed Staggers? Reef (you will see it on your plotter if no swell) other wise it's the big exposed reef thats always awash. Go north with a lure out the back watching the sounder. Have found heaps of lumps through this area like that. Really good area for pinkies in the winter and was monstered there a couple of months ago by YTK's when we anchored up and berleyed for skippy on 6LB gear. Smallish Dhu's and heaps of blackbum around as well as the occaisional KG.
