New 4500 Saltiga

Hey everyone,

I am looking for a new medium sized reel for some jigging, bottom bashing and something that could still cast well. Having a look around and being as a i almost always buy shimano gear i wanted to give the daiwa side of things another go.

The new Saltiga that Daiwa have just released caught my eye but wanted some opinions if anyone has used one or on similar reels in that range, before i splash over a grand on a new reel. i already have a Stella SW and i know they are great reels, but kind of wanted something different from my norm.

The link below is from a website where someone has ripped a saltiga apart and really given it a proper review, and it looks as tho some things in this reel don't quite cut the mustard.

Any opinions or suggestions would be great!

Cheers

Saltigas and stellas are both very solid reels and you are not going to have issues with either.Get what you like most and feels better to use.I have a daiwa 5000h and a stella 5000sw i personally feels the daiwa is the better reel but as i said its all personal opinion.Have had no issues at all with my saltigas but my stella on the other has had a few niggling things (Just last week the bail arm screw started backing out after a morning of spinning!)

I have the 5000 and have used it for Sambo season and 2 weeks in exxy. Had no dramas so far and caught plenty of fish popping and jigging. I have a stella as well so Im not one sided. Looks wise it smokes the stella in my opinion.

It's a tough call. No new

It's a tough call. No new stellas in that size which is a bit weird. They go from the tiny 5000 staright to the 8000 size which is a little bigger than the 4500 sized Daiwa. That would have to come into play for your decision.

I read that review and to me would rather get the old model Saltiga which is siginificantly cheaper.
