Needing help choosing a update on a Furuno 585 transducer

 Hello all, I just need some help I have a Furuno 585 with a 600w and wanting to update my transducer to a 1kw I fish western port bay & port Phillip bay Melbourne , also I do some deep sea fishing as we'll chasing tuna & marlin can someone tell me which transducer would be ideal I have looked at tm258 , tm260 & tm270 just wanted to which one works the best. Would like to know the differences on these 1kw transducers and does anyone have settings for a furuno 585 for fishing vic hope someone can help me on this issue that I have cheers karl

 Karl - check out airmar site -very detailed descriptions on all. I have all 3. 258 - good all rounder but quite narrow beam for shallow

260- awesome for 80m plus bottom fidhing

270w great for under 40m but still too wide to really hit ledges accurately. - I run this one marlin trolling And it is awesome - but that is what it's designed for

 Get in touch with Oceanside mate, and get them to send you a copy of John Adams sounder book. They will also give you some optimal settings, great guys.

 I got the tm260 in my tinny

 I got the tm260 in my tinny mate! Was sounding fish in 320m off exy no worries. I think the 50hz on the 258 is smaller than the 260. A mate has one in his boat and it struggles at 250m the size of the 2 are a lot different as well..
