Monster Mesh Max - twisting
Submitted by Noxious on Mon, 2013-11-11 22:40
G'day
I have a Daiwa Monster Mesh Max.
I like the rod itself. Lately I have noticed that the reel seat has started to twist, so that the reel is not inline with the guides as I am fishing (the reel is off center). I can twist the reel back into a central position, but it will move over a days fishing.
Has anyone else had this problem with these rods? I like the rod itself a lot, but this is pretty annoying. Have only had the rod less than 12months. But it has seen quite a bit of use.
Can anyone suggest how to fix this?
Cheers,
Alex

Yep. Faulty. It's a warranty issue. Daiwa are aware and will replace. Get a credit and get a different rod

yep, same as Wazz, have seen a fair few do it over time. easy replacement. As bradz says later on down there, drilling it.... i'd steer away from doing that as just how easy it is to knick the blank...... then it goes bang.

The rod was a gift, so I'm
The rod was a gift, so I'm not sure where it was purchased from or if the receipt is still around. Can I contact Daiwa directly about the issue?

Easy fix
If you cant get it replaced, there is an easy fix.
Drill a small hole (5mm or so) in the reel seat. Drill somewhere that you wont see the hole. For example directly under where the reel will sit. Dont drill too deep...just through the plastic. Avoid hitting the blank.
Inject some araldite or similar into the hole. Let it dry. This will sort it out.
Very easy and it works.
I did then the best that I knew how. When I knew better, I did better.

Thanks for the comments,
Thanks for the comments, might sound stupid. But how do I go about getting it replaced on warranty if it was bought as a gift (no receipt), I think it was bought from BCF?

Just a thought
Just a thought - if it was brought from BCF with the discount card thing they might be able to reprint the docket using the BCF card number

Hey mate, I just PM'd Alex
Hey mate, I just PM'd Alex before, so will pass on the same info. Take the rod to a daiwa dealer (preferably where the rod was purchased) and it will be sorted from there. If you get stuck, I'm at Bluewater Scarborough, you can drop it in there.
