Mindarie today

I fished today at Mindarie on the ocean side of the rock wall and burlied up a about 20 big fish. They would not take squid, mulie or prawn. I put a ball of burlley on the hook and it got nailed. These fish were big. I had 20lb mono and got smashed every time. Just couldn't stop them. They look sort of like a big skippy but not sure, they had a black v shaped tail. I estimate them to be 10 to 12 lb. Can anyone shed some light on what they could be?

Buffies

Mon, 2012-06-25 17:36

I was down there on sunday morning myself but was fishin on the marina sides of it, teaching my housemate the basics of casting and the likes,

These 2 lads come over to the marina and start gutting and cleaning these 2 beasts of fish. (Buff Bream)

They were in an around the 4-5lb mark, if not more.  I was talking to them for a few minutes, and they were saying they were using simple tactics, bread and floats and very small hooks.

Hope this helps shed some light on it for you.

Buff beam are the sort of fish you boil up with old boots. You throw away the fish and keep the boots

Gotcha, thanks for the info. I still think I will have another crack at them next time I go fishing. Even though it was fish 8, me 0 I had a ball. Reckon I might put a little 2500 on the surf caster to get some clearance from the rocks next time though.
