Spend Christmas in kalbarri this year, weather was pretty ordinary, plenty of Crays and mackies though.has anyone come across any spaniads down here yet.
I heard rumours of a 24 year old female landed a 22kg spanish mackie out on woodmans point ammo jetty just before Xmas. Plus alot of cray divers are starting to see them around now. I think we still have to wait for the waters to warm up a little more, and goodluck trying to get a spot on that jetty for balooning!! It is chaotic!!
yer we are still catching crays in Kalbarri but the mackies have gone a bit quite since you have been gone, I will have to use my new "witchdoctor" to attract a few big uns. Hope you had a safe drive back? See u again soon.
Made it home safely, loved it in kalbarri, can't wait to come back.Im sure the witch doctor will bring you some success, it has raised plenty of good fish for me over the years.Dont be afraid to put one of your lures 10 - 15 foot directly behind the witch doctor, I have found that this lure gets a majority of the strikes. Thanks again uncle glen.
I don't go back to work to next Monday ,hopefully we get some good weather before then so I can go for a troll.I will have to go to bluewater to buy myself a new witchdoctor tomorrow,I gave mine to my favorite uncle that has been more like a father to me on my recent trip to kalbarri last week.,Hope it brings him as much success as it has brought me over the years
Gday Dirt , exscuse my ignorance , but what is a "witchdocter" ? I am hoping to do some trolling up in Port gregory in a couple of weeks , and would like all the help i can get.
Hey mate a witch doctor is basically a mirror teaser normally made out of timber but some of the new ones are made out of plastic, basically it is towed behind the boat ,it has mirrors and reflective sections on it that helps attract fish from a further distance.I believe they are a must when trolling for pelagics
They have dropped in price I picked one up from Hillary's boat and tackle for $180 with tow rope and bag good deal I thought def did the job in exmouth

I can confirm (and seen pics)
I can confirm (and seen pics) that a shark mac was caught off the back of 3 mile on sat.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

Wouldn't mind trawling a big fat red head HB lure out around Natto Reef for a few Macks in the coming months, but alas, no boat suitable.

The original witch doctor is very expensive. There are cheaper versions on ebay, but of course they are not as good.
