Melting Richter Soft Heads?

Anyone had a problem with Richter soft heads melting? Just pulled out a lure roll and had one soft Grassy out of about 10 that was disintegrating. Head going all soft and sticky. My first thought was fuel or similar but no other signs on the others. Mono leader and heatshrink over hook rig was fine. Any thoughts?

We've been through this one before a while back as I had some which did the same, just contact Mark through his website and he will replace it for you.

I have more problems these days with the heads splitting, but again, if you contact Mark, he will more than likely do the right thing.

Yeah Dodgy. Ive got quite a few Richters, but it was only the clear headed ones that went (X2). They were in different pouches, and 180 degrees apart when the roll was rolledup (If that makes sense) so I didnt think it was from contact with chemicals or something. Werent exposed to any more heat/UV than any others in the roll, but ended up how you described.

how recently

How recently bought were these dodgy ones?  The ones I had which were bad were several years ago and it was put down to not enough of the setting agent being put in or something.

Pretty much, not enough UV

Thu, 2011-08-04 17:52

Pretty much, not enough UV stabiliser in the resin. It happened a few years ago, not sure if you somehow got some old ones or what.

He is away at the moment, but I'm sure he will be interested to do something about it. Here is a contact form for Mark: http://richterlures.com/tradeenquiries

I honestly couldnt tell you how old it is. Got quite a few and the oldest is probably 2 years old. Apart from that they all look the same.

It was a Purple head Lastchance.

Will send Mark an email and let him know.

Also keep different brands separate from others

Thu, 2011-08-04 18:34

as in pakula / richter / black bart.  The different chemicals in the skirts can react with one another.  This may not have been the problem but worth remembering.

Definately good advice to keep them separated. And make sure that you grab the biggest lure roll for each breed, as you will eventually fill them all - but only use the same lure everytime.......hey Brucesta
