Streaky Bay

in South Australia - my usual fishing mates went there a couple of times - around 2000 - 2001 when i was moving south. Loved it - and pigged out on Razor Fish.

Cactus

Just past Ceduna, turn in to Point Sinclair at a town called Penong. snapper salmon skippy from the rocks. Brilliant spot. Best surf on the south coast. Watch the bities. Good camping ground. Treat the locols right and they'll look after you.

If you want extra oversize jewies, then go offroad at Yalata to the far west coast. Summertime is best.Let the staff at Yalata know your plans.

Do your research, two of the best spots in the country.

Dont forget to post your results... WAZ

Esperance - more scenic drive than going up the GE Highway and the beach fishing is great towards the bight - if you have 4wd try Dunn's Rocks and the beaches to the east.

Fowlers Bay SA

Fowlers Bay is top spot also good facilities and pleanty of fish, salmon, sharks, snapper and mulloway off the beach and pike, whiting and flathead off the jetty. Pretty cheap camping also. The people who run the general store/caravan park are very helpful, they will tell you where to fish and what the beaches are like around the area.

There are plenty of other places as well but it depends on the time of year you are going to do the trip.

Smokey Bay

Tue, 2008-09-16 19:00

If you are taking a boat (a tinny is OK) go to smokey bay.  I fished there and got the biggest King George whiting I have ever seen.  They were in plague proportions and every one was a monster.  Good crabbing and they sell massive oysters there.  I got two dozen for ten bucks and couldnt eat them all.

I was going to go down from yalata but it was pouring rain.  Everyone says it is the ducks nuts for mulloway.

If you arnt taking a tinny then streaky is probably better for land based if you go around the point.

Cactus

Go to Cactus. 20kms of dirt road. Fish the point at main beac. (Cactus). Take a large bag of mulies, heap of gang hooks and a 9ft rod loaded with 30lb braid. One of the best landbased platforms anywhere.

First time I went for a look and stayed for a week, caught fish all day from 30ft above the water, brillint surf gr8 views , backpacking Swedish tourists !!!!! What more could you want

Ive done this trip before

Tue, 2008-09-16 20:12

Ive done this trip before fishing heaps of places along the way in the murray river for murray cod around Swan Hill, Yalata is a great spot get a mud map of the area from the roadhouse no booz allowed because it is aborignal land if you'll need a four wheel drive also go down to toolinna cove about 90-100km east of Balladonia but don't go here unless you have two vechles not for the faint hearted.
P.s. watch out for roos trust me i found out the hard way
