Marlin Rods

Hey guys,

Just a question,

My Dad and I are looking for a marlin rod for my beastly reel(pic attached) As it is my birthday tomorrow. We are most likely going to buy them at Compleat Angler in Joondalup. Does anyone know any good quality rods for marlin.

Depends what you classify as a "marlin rod" any typical bottom bashing you could use for marlin..

Depends you could get a normal 15-24kg live fibre or something along those lines that you could chase billies with.

Or a fully rollered rod like a Shimano Backbone 24kg-r (fully rollered)

Or just a roller tip, like a 24kg backbone or a penn powerstick etc etc...

as i said it's what you classify as a "marlin rod"!

I was looking at the Daiwa

Fri, 2008-04-11 19:26

I was looking at the Daiwa Grandwave in Bluewater Tackle that was 24-37kg line breaking strain, but it was graphite, that was $200. But I don't really want a graphite in case it gets a chip or someting in it. The rod is for sails and blacks up at Exmouth this year. Looking at fish around 60-100kg if we are lucky.

Graphite rods are so much

Graphite rods are so much better if you are prepared to look after them. I'd never fish with fibre glass again.

I ended up getting a graphite Strudwick Bluewater 25-37kg breaking strain.......It looks like a 8-10kg breaking strain because it is so thin.......LOL......... Best rod a guy could want.Wink                 A HUGE Thanks To Nole And David at Complet Angler Joondalup
