Mandurah crabs

Took the family down to Mandurah on Sunday for some crabs in the dinghy got to the ramp about 6 and was surprised that the car park only had about 4 cars in it, later I did see a sign saying launching only between 6 am and I think 7 pm which I have not seen before. Only saw 1 group scooping the whole time. The crabs were tiny about half legal size we tried 2 areas pretty close together for 2 hours for 8 crabs never seen it this bad in mandurah before I don't know how long we can carry this sustainable fishery statement with things in this bad a shape. Don't mean to be pessimistic but they must have copped a real hiding.

Thats a shame mate We had a crack the weekend before and got our 20 in about 4 runs with most being miles over size ,we go quite regularly have had no worries finding them scoping or drop nets , I think its been a pretty good season so far compared to last year guess the crabs do move around a fair bit tho

I had heard that some people were doing well some local retirees stopped and asked how we went and said that they were getting the same story. Must admit didn't hunt around at all just hit my usual spot.

Dawesville ramp?
If that's Dawesville ramp on the west side of the cut that is so ramp has some etiquette set during busy times. It is open 24 hrs a day just restricted on where to launch and retrieve during "peak" times.

We had a crack Saturday arvo
We had a crack Saturday arvo and hit the spot where we caught dozens of just undersize ones and 7 keepers a month ago and struggled badly working from 1.6m to 0.5m with about 8 runs on 10 nets all double baited. Drove around and drifted the flats and were lucky to spot 6 crabs in total. Ended up with three keepers....
I spoke to one old salt who said the morning crew have been doing well but the arvo crew have been stuggling.
Officially off the Pies bandwagon
