Mandurah Crab festival

howdy all,
The crab festival has just come and gone, but do the crabs come from Mandurah? Does this mean there's bugger all left? 100,000 people eat a heck of a lot of crab
Also, with the rains about to fall, the river usually shuts down. What about Mandurah and the sound?
cheers

No crabs left mate
All been eaten. Or mostly wasted by tourists who don't shell them thoroughly.

Crabs not local.
They bring 'em in from Shark Bay.

Mandurah still good for crabs
There is still good crabbing to be had at Mandurah if you are prepared to move around until you find them. And go crabbing early in the morning not at lunch time and expect to do well at that hour of the day.

i bought some yesterday from innaloo seafood
approx. prices:
swan river - $35kg
garden island - $25kg
Mandurah - $21kg
swanies were biggest, I grabbed garden island crabs(the middle size) and 4 crabs totalled just over a kg. Mandurah crabs were probably 5 to the kg.
