makes me laugh

every one is chasing squid and occys these days , seems to me we have a owe lot to the the Italian and Greek immigrant's that came to Australia 40 to 50 years ago and introduced us to those delicacies that would only ever been used for bait not to mention there home made snags and tomato sauce I need some more home made tommy sauce so if there any Italians willing to swap a feed of whiting for tommy sauce out there I am keen I am a ex freo anglo boy from fothergill street and grew up in freo with the Italians my first girl friend was Italian but I was so scared of her dad I couldn't take it further than holding hands with her that was 50 years ago ha ha

bait/food

Yeah Petermac, I can remember my dad telling me about the Italians "eating their bait" hahI. And now we are all doing the same. Squid has now become normal food , but i think occy is still underrated.

Got to give the italians credit, hard working and nice food.

Was taught to squid and fish by the old Italian fellas who use to fish Coogee and

The ammo jetty. They allways seemed to have the time to help you out.

I have'nt eaten much occy but mate give me squid or Cuttlefish, any day.

In my grandfather's day, he used get his bait from the Perth Iceworks. Horrible looking things they were, but made good bait, they called them crayfish.

Make it a couple of fillets

Sun, 2013-06-02 12:20

Make it a couple of fillets of dhu or baldie and i'll give you two litres of the.sauce for every kg of fillets. And rwill throw in a bottle of hot chilli sauce as.well. made a killer batch this year which we will most likely not finish in time for next. Fothergill just up the road from me.

Edit... Skin on, don't want "south of the river people" giving me kingclip fillets instead and.passing it as dhu. Lol. (Was a NOR until I was forced to emigrate south).

No probs, you have reminded

No probs, you have reminded me to order the two pigs for end of June.

(Hint) some of the commercial passata sauce is (almost) as good as the home made stuff.
