Lures for up North

Hi guys

I'm going up north this friday (30th?) and am only taking my tiny gear- small reel with 90m 3.6kg braid and 4' rod- and am wondering what are good lures to try for GT's and other species from the beach.

Also, should I take bigger reels like 2500 or 3000, and 6ft rods?

Cheers Ben

u might wanna take more heavier gear if u want GT's, but if u want the rat GT's just chuck around tiny rooster poppers and metal slices

thanks for the advice hookt- 'loll'

I know i wont be able to mess with 30kg tanks but maybe some smaller babies like 1 or 2kg. My theory is the smaller the lure the smaller the fish. Im going on a cruise so the rods have to fit in ma suitcase, hence the small 4' rod.

Any metal slices fishing94? Or are there good ones around

Yep hard to beat gold

Yep hard to beat gold twisty's in those areas, maybe also some 2 inch rubbers like atomic paddle tails or grubs too.

Yep, agree with Daisy, if i could only take a few lures halco gold twisty's in a couple sizes would be the ones. A few soft plastic's wouldn't hurt either.

If your only going to take the one rod and reel , I would pack a spare spool and some spare line. Only have to hook a bigger fish and you would get spooled pretty quick.
