Lowrance combo
Submitted by Beggers on Sat, 2014-02-01 15:40
Well my Northstar 121 has the dreaded white screen of death, so I'm on the search for a new combo.
Ive had a look at the Simrad NSS 12 but not sure about a touch screen.
ive owned a Lowrance in the past (GPS only), and liked it so I'm thinking aabout the
HDS 10 gen2. Would appreciate any feedback
cheers

Simrad
I know a bloke in Dampier who has 2 12 inch touch screens.
I have played with them in his driveway and the seem really nice.
Trouble is he has had quite a few dramas with them. His main issue is the lack of support. Yes they were purchased in Oz.
He has had to resolve some issues himself and it got to the stage he was talking to someone in NZ to get some help.
If I had payed that sort of money I would be pissed off.

HDS7
I know it doesn't answer your question directly, but I have HDS7 in my boat. As a GPS it works fine, the sounder is even OK, but I also have a furuno 620 installed, and as a sounder it is far better (IMO).

I also have the HDS7 and
I also have the HDS7 and whilst it is OK my mate has the Hummingbird (not sure of the model similar in size as mine) and his seem to be a better unit. He also has software to plot spots on his home computor and transfer o the unit and go find.
That said I am still happy with the Lowrance, still cant catch a fish though!!

I have a hummingbird 788ci HD, now I have worked out how to drive it I have a high opinion of it (especially the GPS side of things) , if do I have a gripe about it is that it looses the bottom at about 15kms an hour
