Line for Tyrnos 30

Hey guys just wondering what line I should put on my Tyrnos 30, I will be using it for ballooning n the summer months and bottom bouncing etc in the winter. Looking at spending around 30-40$ for line. I was thinking putting around 300m of eBay braid as backing and then another 300m of 50lb low stretch. Anyway thanks in advance for ideas.

note: I balloon from woodies point ammo jetty so full braid will get tangled too easily with the million other ballooners there.

cheers,

I would personally just run

I would personally just run 15kg mono. Can't trust ebay braid, especially as backing (you could lose your top shot as soon as you get to it). I'd much rather run less of a good quality line that I know I can push hard than chance it at the bottom of the spool with a so/so line. The 30 holds a truck load of 15kg, and doesn't hurt the pocket when you lose a few meters here and there. I don't recommend the lo stretch for a ballooning line, the abrasion resistance is poor compared to other good mono that platypus do. You can always add a braid topshot ontop of the mono for when you want to bottom bash.

Mono

As Flangies suggested any cheap braid can be a bit hit and miss. Spending the extra money on quality braid is worth it if the budget allows. Also any knot in a line to line connection will be the weakest point. Not to discourage though as a few well tied knots will serve right. The Tyrnos 30 will typically fit 500-550m of good quality 15kg mono. We sell Platypus Pre-Test 15kg 500m spools at $30 for Fishwrecked members.

So if you need some good line at a good price feel free to swing past to purchase some and we can even spool it for you at no charge.

I just spooled my Tyrnos 30 up with platypus 15kg 500m spool - plus if your going for sharks metro you don't really want to have a knot break loose and lose your shark.

 would be absolutely gutted!!
