Lawrence Elite 5 Boat Current Position setting??
Submitted by Cold Feet on Tue, 2015-11-24 16:27
Hi guys,
Does anyone know how to keep the boats current position in the centre of the Lawrence Elite 5 chart when riding around without a waypoint destination?
I have to zoom out, find my location and put the crosshairs on the position of the boat and then zoom back in - there must be a centre boat position function available?
Looked at the manual, and only reference I can see that may change this is the COG or North Up Option?
Appreciate any help on this..
Thanks,

Centralise boat
try pushing exit. If it's the same as hds after you have used the cursor you have to push exit to get the screen to track.
My spots are so secret even the fish don't know about them !

Cheers,
Thanks.. also found this on a quick google search..."You need to make sure you are not in PAN map mode. If you see the cursor on the screen you are in Pan map mode. Hit the page button and that should center you on the screen"
Sounds similar to what you are suggesting.. will try it tonight..

I think on the Elite series you hit "Menu" and then "Return to vessel"

menu…return to vessel
Then throw it in the bin and buy a simrad or raymarine. Mine lost comms coming out of a creek at 2am and didnt notice until i was 10k out to sea. Last time anything lowrance will be on the boat, even if its written on a shirt, it goes over.

LOL Morgs, agreed, not the easiest operation on these things.., and manual is not too much help either..
Cheers guys, will give all these suggestions a go.. could not get to it last night - too windy for a spin out..

Cheers Morgs, you win the prize..
Morgs had the correct fix guys, just FYI incase someone else struggles with this issue on the Elite 5.
Press Menu, and select "retun to vessel", and the boat position is displayed in the centre of the screen, and it stays there, even if you zoom in or out..
One issue I noticed with this - when I select this mode, I loose most of my Navionics detail??? Has anyone else experienced this, or have I stuffed something else??
I am seriously thinking of binning this unit, as the operation is too complex for me...

Yes same here
My lowrance elite 5 ( bought it 6 months ago ) had dramas with losing position and also losing the navionics maps whenever it wanted. Took it to the shop and they did a sortware update and it's been good since. Touch wood

And anyone else have a problem with the stupid bracket on these things??? Mine keeps becoming loose meaning the screen keeps falling forward. I changed out the first one under warranty but now have the same problem again.
