Mate there is no camping in

Sun, 2008-08-31 20:04

Mate there is no camping in Kalbarri itself unless you stay at one of the caravan parks in wich case you get a powered sight for your fridge or cooler and they have all the amenities for showering and cleaning your fish. Kalbarri is surrounded by National Park. As for the fishing as long as your willing to put in the time pretty much any beach in Kalbarri is worth a go for Mullaway. You dont need a 4x4 for any of the beaches there. The river mouth is one of the best spots or across the river at Frustrations is probably the best spot but is really tough fishing on both angler and gear. Hope this helps you out a bit. Im heading there myself next holidays so might see you there.

Camping at the Caravan Parks is pretty cheap

Mon, 2008-09-01 08:35

for an unpowered site, though a little more expensive I think during the school hols. Look up the Kalbarri Tudor site on the net. It should have the rates on their site.
The river mouth in the evenings is a good spot for Mulloway. There are some pegolas on the beach, fish in front of there.
Another good spot is Wittecara Beach. Fish in the gutters to the north and just before the reef.

Mon, 2008-09-01 14:51

Close to everything.
Take a few poppers, some metal slices, plenty of ganged hooks and some big floats.
Go to the southern end of the Blue Holes and cast into the big pool there. You can get some nice big tailor.

Wittecarra beach

Tue, 2008-09-02 11:00

is south of Kalbarri townsite and the rivermouth. You will see a sign for Wittecarra Creek on the road between Red Bluff and Kalbarri.

One last thing Teenager

Tue, 2008-09-02 12:19

If you decide to fish the rocks or reefs at Kalbarri, remember to watch the waves before you try a spot to make sure you are going to be safe and NEVER TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE WAVES.
There are fantastic fishing spots all along the coast south of Kalbarri, but you have to be careful as King Waves do come every so often.

There is plenty of bait to buy up there normally

Tue, 2008-09-02 13:33

The best bet is to get your young brother to fish near the sand bank in the river. It is located opposite the main shops. Heaps of whiting there normally. They make a perfect bait for some big tailor or Mulloway.

The biggest kind of blowies,

Tue, 2008-09-02 20:45

The biggest kind of blowies, they actually eat small children (only 6-10 years of age) from time to time but its ok as they only are around from july to december.

They tend to follow the mulloway and tailor around the river mouths and the largest caught was 312kg and found a small shark inside. 3 men were killed in the process!!

You should be safe enough just dont take your eyes off the water and dont go in any water deeper than 35cm. To be on the safe side where shoes and carry a large rattle around with you to let them know you are coming :)

Good luck with the mulloway, wish i could go lol

hope this helped ;)

Tue, 2008-09-02 21:18

No lie this is 100% reality, why do you think you cant fish at the main beach? Too dangerous for people to be going in the water, No one swims in kalbarri Absolutely No one! If they do they are insane.

Ask anyone

No one even swims there my mum went there last year and they all just go on the jetties and watch the ocean. My uncle Knows a guy who lost his leg to a nor wester and to this day he has a wooden one.
