Jye's First Snapper
Submitted by The Saint on Wed, 2014-06-18 12:30
Just returned from Shark Bay and thought I'd share with you all a pic of my 5 year old grandson, Jye, with his first ever pinky.
Fish went 66cm and 5.5 kg.
Of course he wasn't able to do it all himself and Pop did the pump while Jye did the wind.
We were fishing in the Easern Gulf so it had to be released which was a shame, as he loves his fish and wanted to take it home and eat it !
Cheers,

Cool as, hes stylin with that monster hat, nice fish Jye!
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Top stuff and very nice fish.
Shame it had to be released, but the memories for the young lad will last forever.. Good on ya Pop.
I've spent half my life fishing.. The other half I have wasted..

Thanks
Thanks for the kind comments fellas.
Dale, the seed was sown long before this trip, I gave him his first fishing rod for his 1st birthday !
The day he got his snapper we were on the boat for 9 hours and he still hadn't had enough when it was time to head in.
He just loves getting out in Cockburn Sound chasing Bread and butter species, loves crabbing in summer, and goes crazy over catching "angry fish" (squid).
His goal at the moment is to catch a shark, AND it has to be a great white.
So I guess we'll have to put up with the bycatch until he nails that shark !
Cheers,
