Jigging or soft plastic ?
Submitted by joycey on Mon, 2014-02-10 15:07
Hi guys,
Going to give jigging and soft plastics ago for some metro demersals ( if it ever stops being windy ! )
Set myself up with jigging and soft plastic outfit.
Just wondering how you decide whether to fish a soft plastic or jig. Are there certain situations/conditions/depths where one method is preferable to another.
I fish anywhere from 10m behind Garden Island to mid 40's south of Rottnest.
Cheers for any advice,
Joycey

Jigs
Hi joycey
For shallow water ie 10-20m we prefer softplasics as you get a nice action and can cover plenty of water.
As for 30-40m we use both softplasics & metals depending on the day or drift etc.
We also like using ocky and pirate style jigs as often baldchin or tentative fish will eat it.
Having a good selection of jigs and weights is the key. Feel free to PM us or pop in for more info & different techniques etc
