Importance of trailor lights
Went to go for a fish yesterday morning. All set up and excited for tha possibility of getting onto something a bit bigger than a herring. On my way down to my local spot, some donkey with a tinnie on a trailor was doing his best sunday driver effort. I finally decided to pass him and as I got about half way across his tinnie he starts turning right. Totally oblivious to tha fact that I am now passing him he starts to put is foot down. I had to floor it over tha curb across some dudes lawn and avoid a brick wall to get back on tha road. I blew out one of my front tires and had to pull tha 4x4 over. Once my mate and I settled down to tha fact that we were just about in a huge crash I got out and started goin through tha process of changin my tire. I soon realized that my tire iron was missing and only tha jack was in tha truck. Needless to say after a couple of minutes we realized that this was gonna require a bigger effort than a standard tire change. It wasnt even 730am so my mates missus came and picked us up while we waited for repco to open. Luckily he had cold beer in tha fridge!! I bought a roo jack and we changed tha tire what a drama. Meanwhile donkey with tha tinnie was probly sittn back catchn fish and enjoyn his day. He never even stopped!!
Now that I have a roo jack what are peoples suggestions of storing it. I have seen them on tha back door with tha spare and also on tha roof racks. I heard that it can cause tha hinges to buckle if its on tha back door.
Hopefully I can get out again soon. Always make sure if your towing a boat that your trailor lights are working and save other peoples lives!!!

How exactly were you passing him? What kind of road/how were you passing him? Trying to figure out exactly what happened and it has me stumped.

didnt get a number hapened to fast
Yeah we were sweet had to fork out some cash for tha jack and new tire but no one was hurt.
hlokk heading downhill on a standard 2way rd I went to pass and he gunned it into a right hand turn. He would have turned right into tha passenger side of my 4x4 If I didn't put my foot down to swerve around him jumpin tha curb on tha on coming traffic side if that makes sense to you.

So he turned right from a
So he turned right from a left hand lane without looking in his mirror?
If so, what a complete moron. Should have his license revoked for that one.

Brakes help
From my years of experience dealing with idiots or unpredictable drivers, braking makes a lot more sense than gunning it. Particularly in a dangerous situation like that. Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience but pleased also that it didn't kill someone.

what sort of car do you want to store the jack in/on?
i store mine in my garage...... useless on majority of newer 4wd's without surrounding bar work. not to mention dangerous my patrol fell off it once and i was lucky all i broke was a spotlight.
can be used for a wide range of tasks like emergency winching etc just look what malcom douglas does with his

certainly pays to be on your toes. glad thats all that got broken.i have seen them jacks mounted on the roo bar as well as on the spare tyre rack with a padlock through them, if you have side steps you could even mount it on them

Braking was no option
If I had locked up my brakes uncut it would have been a collision for sure.
Rig it's a 2002 jackaroo. I have heard I can get brackets put on to mount them properly. I spent some time yesterday researching them on tha net as it wasnt a planned purchase.I'm glad I have it now tho cause they seem pretty useful and it certainly got tha 4x4 up quick and tire changed fast. We felt like we were in pit lane LOL.
Thanks Russ it does have tha side steps. I like that idea. I used tha bars from tha side steps to jack up tha truck. I will look into that option for sure. Please tell David that I love tha truck even if it didnt come with tha tire iron to remove tha lug nuts and jack up tha jack!!! Haha
