What are school sand whiting like for tailor / mulloway bait?

If I was to go down and catch a couple of dozen sand whiting from about 18cm are they good bait?...or is this frowned upon by other fishos? I have no idea, I just want to know what the ettiquette is.

Quite good bait, for tailor mulies are probably better but no doubt that mulloway in the surf feed on sand whiting

they make great bait for many species. just remember there is a limit of 30 you can catch however there is no size limit on them.big ones you eat , small ones you feed to ther ones you want to eat

Thanks for the feedback.

Out of curiosity if I caught 30 of them would I still be allowed to catch 8 tailor and two mulloway in the same day (obviously I know this would never happen to me)?...or would it restrict the whiting catch to 20 (ie 30 - 8 - 2 = 20)?

Pick up a recreational fishing guide from your local tackle or camping shop and it will tell you all you need to know about fish limits! They are free too
