If your boat gets up easily don't put them on as they can have the opposite desired effect in most cases.

they are easy to fix on , but make sure you paint the surface where you drill the holes and put silastic in them when the bolts go through

just a word of cautionto

Sun, 2010-02-07 13:23

just a word of caution to anyone fitting hydrofoils to their motors if the boat is new. a couple of years ago i bought a very reputable name ali 4.2m boat that was basically a lemon.....about 8 major faults but the main one was a split hull along the keel.

i had fitted a hydrofoil to the new motor after i noticed it was taking a lot of water. Now the very reputable company tried to blame the hydrofoil for putting more pressure on the bow and causing the keel to split. after 18 months of going through the wringer they finally replaced the hull with a brand new one.

interestingly enough since that incident the company has now changed their warranty wording to include the warranty may be void if the motor is fitted with hydrofoils.

so if you have a new ali boat read the fine print on the warranty. I don't know if all the salesmen are aware of this warranty change from about 5 years ago.

i have them on my 55cv yammi

Sun, 2010-02-07 13:44

i have them on my 55cv yammi on 445 bemuda

i had plane probs too with 80l fuel and bulk fishing gear

i removed the foils to see what would happen and it was heaps worse and was relly bad at rest the foils seem to keep the boat more stable

so anyways i had a new prop fitted and its like different boat  so mabe you could drop a prop size
