How much of a handi man are ya

When your not wetting a line for what ever reason, i.e. bad weather, boss ladies hasn't given you a leave pass. What do you do in your spare time.

I've built a few bits and pieces over the years. I'm sure there's a few other Fisho's on this site who lend their hand at various taskes, whether it be making new rigs/lures for next time ya head out or building that new weapon (rod) for the next assault, or building something for around the house.

Thought I'd share some of mine. may add a few more soon.

Built the patio and pond at me first house.

Than we moved into the second house and another blank canvas.

Framed out for the deck in steel and screwed down timber decking install fibreglass 1/2 tank for pond bricked up the outside and built rock wall for garden.

After all that hard work I realized I need a spot to wet me whistle so I built me self a bar.

And I've ripped the scab off a few beers down there.

Enjoy and show what you've done

Cheers Wes.

Gday mate

Tue, 2012-08-28 07:57

Love the home handyman stuff.  Ive been away from home for nearly five months now, seriously looking forward to getting back to do more things around the place.  Last year we pulled up the carpets to expose the wandoo and jarrah flooring in our place which was built in the 50's.  We then spent every spare moment in the next 3 months hammering down nails, repairing the pest inspectors holes left in the corners of each room with recycled timber, sanding and varnishing the floors to a high gloss.

After that, dad and I rebuilt the boat trailer.

http://fishwrecked.com/forum/trailer-reborn

First order when we get back is to build a deck out the back of our place around our palm tree potentially with an outdoor kitchen, fish cleaning station etc.  After that is some muskoka/adirondack chairs and tables for the deck. I will post photos as I go.

Did the same with an old

Tue, 2012-08-28 17:59

Did the same with an old house we had & old jarrah floorboards (60's circa) So much sawdust & everywhere, even had it around me clacker (yes I had pants on) Satisfying project & looked great afterwards.

Have been building a deck out the back of my new house build with help of Seaquest (foreman), will get a pic & pop it up

Hahaaha Cheeky Bugger

Tue, 2012-08-28 19:28

They matched the crappy salmon carpet and brown walls before we painted. They still look the same with the paint sample marks and all, thats another job when I get back! The whole lot will be painted and cornices added to the skirting boards to cover gaps:D The missus wants almost a ceiling white, I was convinced before, but after looking at these pics and not seeing home for 5 months im not sure.

Big job

Tue, 2012-08-28 19:39

But makes me think there might be some nice jarrah below all that paint. Defiantly wouldn't go the blue, a mid colour of beige or something similar on the walls with a few feature walls in a contrasting colour with all the jarrah trim. Starting to sound like a interior designer HaHaHa.

Oh that brings back horrible memories from my floor-sanding days!! but nothing beats that look.... or that smell!!! or that cough that lasts for days cause I was too tuff for respirators

Nice work... and yeh, those red boogers are always good for a party joke or 2!

One dusty job

Tue, 2012-08-28 11:52

Gotta love the taste and smell of sanding dust, would've been picking a few booggers out for the next few days. Gotta like how the timber floors end up after a polish. Good stuff

New work bench

Wed, 2012-08-29 17:48

And cabinets with roller draws.

All solid Sheoak. Did everything from stratch. Sourced the logs, gotém slabbed, machined all the timber put it all together and polished.

From a bit of old patio timber and left overs from previous builds I thought I'd manufacture a new table.

Needs a sand back and re-polish waiting for the weather to warm up.

Yep Sarcasm lovely coloured chairs.

I'm usually doing something

Sat, 2012-09-01 18:12

I'm usually doing something each weekend, I really enjoy working on the house.

Here's our before and after for the laundry I did recently, did everything myself, cupboard, plumbing, electrical (with sparky dad), tiling, new toilet, new door, paint etc.

Other stuff I've done to the house so far include:

  • New skirting throughout
  • New carpets
  • Extended existing wooden floors
  • New blinds
  • New doors throughout
  • New light fittings
  • New laundry / toilet
  • Landscaping (nearly complete)
  • Painted entire house interior (never again, by far the least enjoyable)

About to start ensuite bathroom, then onto second bathroom, then a break I suspect before the biggest task of them all, kitchen...

Still come cleaning required in these pics but you get the jist.
