How good is this, we live in paradise
After buying kid fishing combo's for my daughgter (aged 5) that didn't last, I decided to get something that would last and be easier for her to manage and learn with (good back up combo for dad to!). We went down to Complete Angler an Camping in Rockingham where Phil did a good deal on a 2.5 kg Daiwa Laguna and a Rover ProPower 2000.
We had just enough time before dinner to head down to the beach (Safety Bay) to wet a line, I didn't expect to catch anything it was just to give the daughter a chance to try out the new rod. Second cast produced a 27cm tarwhine :). We finished on that note, walked home and fillited it up for dinner tonight.
Next adventure is a late night beach fish (school holidays) then out for a squiding session in the coming days
Priceless

Great stuff mate. Good to see your daughter (and yourself) having a good time fishing. I have a 4 month old baby girl in which I'm counting the months and years before she's old enough to hold a fishing rod. Haha

Great story...
...and spot on getting her a quality outfit. Those Kmart kids combos have probably halted more promising young fishing careers than helped them!

Good work mate, spending a few extra bucks on good set up is the go. Taking my boy 6 & girl 4 out for a squid session tomorrow in the sound. They are keen as mustard. Let them choose their own jigs, been asking me every day if we're going squidding today. Haha great times.

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Great idea to give the young bloke a reel to play with, I'll get one from the hed for my 1 month old son.
