Help wanted- stand alone bluetooth module for boat stereo?
Hey all
The stereo headset on the boat as died and im tossing up wether to replace the unit or not. I hardly listen to AM/FM (except footy season) so am really just after something to play tunes via Bluetooth through the speakers on the boat.
Not exactly sure what would work for this purpose, but Im guessing there must be some kind of Bluetooth module I can wire directly into the speakers and a power source without having to use an actual stereo headset? Basically after something that can just connect directly to the speakers and run Bluetooth through the phone/ ipod etc
Know I can probably get a UE2 speaker or something and just use that, but have a decent speaker system already on the boat so want to use them. There are a few things Ive found (like the fustion BT200 etc) but these all seem to need a stereo headset to run through, defeating the purpose.
Anyone know of anything that could do this?
Cheers in advance!

Just been looking at them
Just been looking at them and similar as my Sony head unit has died also
The above ones and similar no name brands are about $100 without speakers, cheapest Fusion about $230 on Ebay.
Still undecided, I definitely use AM/FM (usually at the islands night time after kids have flaked)
Dont need a CD slot, so these which are completely sealed may be the go.
Anyone got an Axis or other no name brand fitted?
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Will be interested in the feedback about the no names
Rob: Mine was a Sony Marine one as well, only lasted a couple of years and that was in a waterproof housing, tucked up under the hull as well so def wasnt a moisture issue etc. Pretty disappointing for something so pricey
Ive got decent marine Pioneer speakers x4 so was considering just replacing that with a cheapo headset into the same housing (can get the DNA/ Axis as you say for around $100), so def interested to see if anyone has these/ how long theyve lasted etc before I cut holes in the dash etc for round models.

I have used an axis on on a past boat
No issue with it at all, and connected to the iPhone etc, really easily via Bluetooth.
For a cheap unit that is nice and compact, I found it to be really good.
I have literally just a few hours ago connected one of the fusion bt100 units to a mates boat. The screen on the fusion marine stereo has died but everything else still works fine. So bought a bt100 u it and connected it up, good as gold and only $65. But to answer the question it does still need a head unit to connect to.

I have one like the picture above. Its a JBL and goes well. The chrome surround is starting to look a little corroded through.

just my 2 cents worth but 2
just my 2 cents worth
but 2 places i dont like to have music going is out on the boat and playing golf
both to me are places to relax without it , if your overnighting it then maybe , but i still rather like banter and conversation round the fire /camp than tunes unless there melow and low
cant fathom the amount of times iv gone camping to enjoy the serenity and you then hear the unwanted loud & unwelcome music from another mob cascading over into your experience
fire at will lol

Ha ha you 'MUST' be around
Ha ha you 'MUST' be around my vintage Hezzy. The only time we usually blast the stereo is on the way back in with a good haul of fish. I love doing this up north with a big bag of beers on block ice waiting in the back of the ute.
Love the West!

I dont mind music on yhe boat, but I'm not a big fan of loud music.
is trawling for Bill's (this time next week!!) or searching for bottom ground both require a bit of attention and loud music aint bood for that

Rockford Fosgate PMX-2
Have the Rockford Fosgate gear in my boat and it’s awesome, also can be controlled by later model Raymarine units. About $450 for the head unit.
Cheers.
