Help with landbased fishing in and around Cairns

Am heading over to Cairns next week for a livaboard trip to do a bit of diving.

After the diving finishes up I'll have a few days to spare around Cairns, and was wondering if anyone could help out with some locations to try chucking a few lures around.

It might be that it isnt worth taking a rod tube all the way over there for a bit of shroe fishing (in which case I won't bother) but if anyone has had success and able to give a few pointers that would be great!

Cheers

Dan

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

Hey

Which area with boats did you mean? Not the Trinity Wharf (where the cruise ships are) I presume?!

Dan I doubt you would get you money's worth land based around Cairns mate. If you want I can lend you an outfit to toss around if you like? Just don't steal or break it!

Cheers for the offer Bunny, but if you reckon there's not much to catch around there landbased I might just leave the gear at home and give it a miss.

Other option is to charter a boat I guess, but got a couple of overseas fishing trips booked for later in the year so trying to tone it back.

However if you need a deckie that knows his way around a boat and is happy to pay for fuel/beers etc. then am certainly keen!

The bonus is it's still good when its blowing its ring out, the boats are comfy and you can go croc spotting.
