The ramp down there is not for the faint hearted, open ocean boat ramp, often with waves breaking on the ramp. You need small swells to use the ramp down there, many many people have been hurt attempting to use the ramp.
Launching is usually pretty easy if you can drive off the trailer, retrieving isnt!
Plenty of large skippy just around the bay in 8-15m on the lumps. Plenty of bigger fish out wider if your boat suits. Suggest if you have not been there before and want to head out wider, head to the north of the island, dont attempt the south side.
If its a bit suss at Hamelin take a drive round to Augusta, you will have no probs getting in and out there.Plus you have the option of fishing the river.
Check the laws b4 boating around there, I heard the new marine parks have come into effect wich means no fishing from boats between the capes. You don't want to cop a fine.

Yep,
plenty of Dhuies, Queenies, Blue Groper, Nanny's etc. not to mention bulk crays.
But take notice of all advice you get about weather, wind and the danger involved with using the ramp at Hamelin.
Sure on a good day you'll get in and out without too many drama's but if/when things turn bad it is a very dangerous place to be.
