Hairy debate

The brown tips on the endopodite which I have seen on all females, is this classed as setose ? I understand the small fine hairs that appear down the sides and that is fair call to release these girls as required but where is the line drawn? Anyone in the know on this topic who could shed some light would be much appreciated. I don't want to throw them all back if not required due to paranoia. Regards  b364

Good luck with that. I couldn't even get a clear definition out of fisheries officers over that.

Not an issue for pros to worry about though. They can take them regardless.

Had one female with just a 1mm hair on the tip of the fork when fisheries came over for a look. They said it was fine but any longer and it would be classed as setose

Cheers dumper! That's all they had today and I have kept them in the past though with all the talk over people being pinged for fine hairs I thought it best to err on the side of caution until clarity appears. Looks like it won't ! Sleep time, full pots to pull in the morn
