Gutted - Robbed

Went to pick the boat up this morning from Cockburn boat storage to get the 200 hour service done on the motor and with absolute dismay note the boat was visited overnight by some scum lowlifes. Stolen items include Furuno 295 sounder, Lowrance HDS12M with Platinum card, Engel 32 litre fridge freezer and Fusion sound system. The person/persons even took the transducers of the back of the boat, 2 x 2kw. I mean what can you say it just breaks your heart it really does destroy your faith in humanity

so they have good security then
So is your boat covered by them or do you have to claim that on your own insurance.

24/7 Security Patrols, Guard Dogs & Security Cameras
All of the above security advertised on their website and they had time to remove the trannies? I'd be demanding a copy of the security footage to hand over to the police.

Targeted
I cant help but feel I was targeted. The trannies were fitted to specially made SS brackets and the trannies "heavily" riveted to the brackets. A significant job to remove them yet the brackets remain intact.

Boat was left out overnight
Boat was left out overnight for me to pick up this morning. to my knowledge no other boats touched. Wish I didn't have that awful feeling this has been lined up for some time. He/they went to a considerable amount of effort and must have come with tools and been there for sometime. This is pretty lousy for me but also the boat yard as they are good people.

24/7 security please explain needed I think
Unfortunately I think what you said about being targeted might have some truth in it. For some human excrement types to get all that stuff must have taken a bit of time and effort. I would be seeing a lawyer and asking him to look at any documents you signed to see if you accepted full responsibility will the your boat was in their care.
This sort of thing has got stop, good people are investing a lot of money in their pride and joy only to then have the lowest form of life come along and take what they want simply because they want too.
I sympathise with the cops they can only do what they can and when they catch them the judge sentences them he/she is restrained by soft legislation and guide lines on sentencing.
There are too many do-gooders at play now there needs to be bit of tough justice to demonstrate that stealing is not going to be tolerated, full bloody stop.

Sorry to hear Peko. This is enough to make any half descent bloke's blood boil. You have put a lot of time and money into your vessel and then some (wanna drop the c-bomb) comes along and rip you off. This is sad mate, I hope they get caught. I'm sure all fw members will keep an eye out if any of these items comes up for sale anywhere.

Spewing.
I recently pulled my boat out of there as cost is too high and no difference in insurance between there and home. Yes its close to the ramp and the boat is inside but i just had a custom cover made to fit my boat while its outside for the cost of 1 years storage there. Where they leave the boat outside ready for you in the morning backs right up to the fence and is easily accessed by the low lifes ( if they came from the outside). Mesh fence just isn't enough i think. They like to sell you the best storage for your boat south of freo but i beg to differ.

Just so happens to be left out that night for you to pick up.. and thats the night you get your electrics taken. def sounds like some sort of inside job. Feel for you mate.
I personally would never store by boat in a yard that does not have inssurance cover, no care no responsibility and no liability! If anyone is storing their boat there, i would definitely be considering if thats a good idea, theives know its possible there now, they will be back! and i bet they dont do anything furhte rin terms of security because of it.

Post it everywhere
Try and post some details and pictures of the items on all your social media to try and get the word out there. The harder it is for these people to fence the stolen goods the less incentive to steal more. If you have serial numbers that would be excellent as well.
If the yard claims to have no surveilance footage, try and find other businesses next to or on the same street that would have footage of the time so you can see people or cars in the area around that time.
Not sure what else you can do. Insurance will cover it (provided you told them that was the boat's normal storage location) so it's not so much the items as it is the hassle and the feeling of being had.

Shitty spot to be in, flip side is keep an eye on social media/gumtree/quokka etc. Mate had a bike stolen in Perth, few weeks later saw same model/colour etc on gumtree for sale in Bunbury, went for an inspection, it was his bike, called the cops, happy ending without the massage

lay up
just a heads up on the insurance point. if anyone is using layup discounts on their insurance premiums (usually over the winter period) most insurance companies won't cover you during the layup period unless the boat is back at your house. outside of the layup period you should be covered so long as you have nominated the storage provider and location.

Layup with Club Marine
must be at a location approved by them. I am unable to store my boat at home so it is always in storage. Notwithstanding the boat being stored by a professional storage company Club Marine will not allow me layup at this location as it is not at one of their 'selected and approved' locations.
From Club Marine, note the comment ''...and We agree ..."
‘Lay Up’ cover is noted as applying to Your Policy on the Schedule, We will only cover You for Accidental Loss or Damage to Your Boat that occurs when the Boat is within the gates, walls or fences of Your home address specified on the Schedule (or at another location if You advise Us and We agree to extend cover in writing) during the months specified on the Schedule. Lay up is extended to cover whilst going to, at, and returning from a boat dealer for servicing and maintenance or during a claim. Can be amended by contacting Our offices or Your Insurance Broker.

I greatly appreciate all the comments and support. Im over the initial shock and disappointment and need to add that I'm well covered by insurance and that's moving forward quickly and smoothly. Not to say I don't have an excess premium and will get every dollar but suffice to say Ill be back on the water very soon.

yeah I bet it was a shock and I'm glad you have good insurance. If anything out of this whole sorry episode you shared it with the fishwrecked community and we can learn a bit from what happened. I for one will be looking into what is offered if I ever have to put my boat in storage. Hope to see you out on the water.

Boat Storage
Id like to make one last comment and hopefully put this issue to bed. Its more than just bad luck but I don't want to remain focused on it rather go forward. What does need saying and I would like people to take this on board. We all have our opinions and we/I get stressed at times and make statements and assumptions that may or may not be necessarily true but this certainly is. Charlie and Jo at Cockburn Boat Storage are "good people" they have been hit hard by this probably harder than me. They have offered to step up to the plate everyway possible including financial. I will be returning my boat to their yard and will continue to do so for the very long term. These things happen and this time I have been one of the victims but not the only one.
