Round up/down..
to the nearest whole number.
Maximum error will be 15 metres
OR if your GPS will do MM.mmm (decimal minutes to 3 decimal places) you can convert SS.s to .mmm by dividing by 60
maximun error 2metres.
If your GPS will only do 2 decimal places (.mm) max error = 18 metres.

Sound around a little
Round up/down, but if you need to find a very small target, like a 2m diameter bommie, then just sound around in a spiral from the GPSmark to cover a 50X50m patch. Current GPS is nominally only accurate to 5-10m anyway, although Geoscience Australia is working on a satellite-based system that should give us centimeter accuracy soon.

I think you have been
I think you have been provided with the numbers in degrees minutes seconds format and you'll need to convert to degrees decimal minutes format.
Try this link to convert www.pgc.umn.edu/apps/convert/

All you need is a simple calculator...
Degrees dont change DDD
Minutes dont change. MM
Divide Seconds by 60... gives a 0.mmm answer... {do it in your head... divide by 10 then by 6...}
eg 45 seconds, /10= 4.5 /6= 0.75 and isnt 45 seconds = 0.75 of a minute?}
Add this to the Minutes MM + 0.mmm = MM.mmm
You have probably been converting (time) seconds in to minutes and minutes in to hours for most of your life....... this is identical
if you have a lot to do. use a spreadsheet.

As above divide the seconds
As above divide the seconds by 60.
you have DMS and and you want to convert to DDM, divide DMS seconds by 60 yo give you the percentage of a minute which makes up the last portion of the DDM format .000
15 seconds = .250
30 seconds = .500
45 seconds = .750

Computer makes it easy
If you have a computer and internet then there are heaps of conversion programs too, which can help if you have time for a bit of planning at home. A simple to use one is here.
https://www.pgc.umn.edu/apps/convert/
It shows the three most common format types, all in a line for latitude and longitude, so when you type a coordinate in the box for the format you have, it automatically shows it in the other formats. As soon as you change the location coordinates all the others change .
