I have fished, Hillarys, Mindarie and Ocean keys.
All of them are littered with rubbish and crap, and frequented by amateur fly by night pretend fisheremen, who do nothing but cause damage to teh fish stocks and fishing areas.
I stopped going after a couple of times, Im no professional but some took the p*ss...completely.

Jip - could not agree more -
Jip - could not agree more - with regards to mindarie - shocking - forget Kmart - go to Mindarie Marina and you will be able to kit yourself out from shoes, t-shirts, buckets, etc ect ect........ - and the amount of tackle some rec fisherman leave - wow - I go once a week - fill my tackle tray with swivels, hooks, floats, steel tracers and burley cages / plastic. Serious - this is quite embarrasing, as a rec fisherman, - you have people / visitors taking leisure walks up and down the marina and this is how we (and I mean "we" - rec anglers / fly by nighters - whatever you wanna call it.) leave it! (I have started taking extra bags with to take some of s#$t with me when I finish. A 10 man cleaning crew will be busy a whole day up there.)

one of the spots I fish has a bin about 50m away... and yet every time I go I pick up a plastic bag full of beer bottles, fishing tackle and other random rubbish. Certainly gives us all a bad name. Just one more reason id rather fish a nice big empty beach. Less rubish and fewer idiots.
Was tryng to think of a way a rec landbased angler licence could help with this problem, but it would probably be too hard to police. Cant even efficiently police the catch of rec anglers never mind the general standards of behaviour.

if some1 was to organise a bit of a clean up id be in for it (nor) i think its disgusting and very unsafe with all the rubbish lying around... maybe might be 1 to stick into the greens, eg Rec Fisho's keep our shores clean etc????.
Mindarie n hillarys is full of broken glass.

Its a shocking shame.Gives
Its a shocking shame.
Gives all of us a bad name, and def agree on the 'fly by nighters' comments.
No one that fishes it regularly would want to be surrounded by that stinking crap every trip.
While the clean up is not a bad idea as such, it never helped us rec anglers at ASI. Seemed because some noobs knew it would get cleaned up eventually by someone else they took advantage of this and dumped twice as much. Plus the anglers efforts at cleaning it up never helped in keeping it open to the public, well not vehicle access at least...if you want to walk a few kilometres you can still fish it, but really, who does?
Was talking about this exact subject with a regular jetty rat down Rocky way just last night, when he added that he'd rather see these fools leave the crap on the jetty than turf it in the water...striking comment but food for thought.

Feel your pain lads
you should see the coastline between Dunsborough and Bunkers Bay after easter, dead set looks like a rubbish tip. A local volunteer organisation does a cleanup but you can never get enough people to get all the crap.
It's just come down to respect and that something that is lacking in society these days

not good at all. the amount
not good at all. the amount of rubbish that is left behind is embarrasing to the o/seas visitors that frequent these areas on sightseeing walks.
Its not just a recent trend , it was happening when i used to fish north and south mole on a regiular basis when i was in my teens, thats going back over 25 years.
You see all these people cleaning up on the side of the road why not do it down at the marinas and groyns. most of these people are on community work or work for the dole. put them to good use.
Hope the injury wasnt too bad and is ok now.

good points raised by all, i
good points raised by all, i also think there is a distinct lack of bins around certain areas, not saying that every1 would use the bins, im sure they wouldnt but it may help a bit more.
and yes sad to say but it is better left on the jetty/rocks than in the sea.... sad times.
