In what strength mate?

Whiplash is great for the heavier stuff but I like sunline super PE for breaming.

Shouldn't cost you much to spool up. I use tufline for most applications these days & it's strong & inexpensive.

yeh depends on what line class you buying as well. the ones that have worked for me in the past have been tuffline and whiplash. both pretty decent and relatively inexpensive.

spectra power pro

I haven't been using it for long but seems decent (30lb) and reviews I've read are good. Can pick up a spool from the states for a third of the cost too, unless unlike myself you can afford to support local business lol

i have heard a lot of bad reports about buying braid off e bay. but i spose thats why its there so you cant see what your getting until its too late.

We have found Frog braid of good quality, easy to tie and has never snapped at the knot, cant remember the price tho

i have to also vote for

Tue, 2010-08-24 08:10

i have to also vote for tufline XP - all my reels are spooled with tufline: 20, 30, 50, 65lb and never had a problem. best value for money i reckon...unless youre into a lot more serious fishing than what i do and can tell the difference! whiplash is pretty good too

Tufline XP best value for

Tue, 2010-08-24 08:17

Tufline XP best value for money. Also recommend ebay if you want the cheapest option to get it, but a local tackle shop would spool up your reel for you while you're there so up to you.

Definately steer away from the cheap non known braids on ebay too, just go for what you know.

Personally I would never

Tue, 2010-08-24 08:18

Personally I would never touch that Power Pro stuff again.

Maybe I got unlucky with a bad spool, but once bitten twice shy.

Bought in 500yards of 50lb from the states.  First decent fish I hooked, started putting some pressure on and snapped.  Second fish the same thing.  Changed rod for the rest of the day.  Tested the power pro out at home against my scales - could not get more than 10kg of pressure on 50lb line before it pinged.

Not my knots either, was breaking mid line.  Same tests on some ancient 30lb braid I had on another reel and that was still pulling 14-15kg.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

That sucks mate... Hopefully you just got a bad batch and I don't get left hanging if I hook something decent!

May look into the Tufline XP next time seems to be pretty good value too

Really nice line, very thin, colour metered, very smooth and if you get a bulk spool it works out rather cheap too (about $50/300?). Considering its a top of the line jigging braid in the same class as lines that cost $150+ here, its very good value.
