Gnaraloo

Just thought I'd send in some shots of our Gnaraloo trip. What a place to fish. We were there 8 days and managed to get out 5 days . The first couple of days we were basically trying to find the fish. Got the mackie on our first trawl out of the bay.On the way in to the bay on the same day we had a sail fish swim right past the boat and head straight for our lures only getting spooked at the last moment. The third day was when we really had some fun picking up three Coronation Trout and realeasing two plus an assortment of Spanglies, Rankins and other stuff, but still no Reds. the next day I mananged to pull up a pearler of a red on a spot Johno67 gave me but lost it at the boat, was starting to get a bit sad then still no bloody reds. Friday last day out drifting aimlessly studying the sounder for any clue of good red ground and finally jackpot within 20 mins 4 reds on board 4 Rankins and a baldie. The best red was saved for last ,with one being pulled up with two lines tangled together and my line involved but still on the bottom I was trying to untangle the top two when I felt my line take off. I knew that would be my bloody luck so I pulled rank and told them to cut their rigs off for a quick untangle. The fight that ensued with the fish was the best I've ever had and it turned out to be a stoinka of a red just over 11kg.Still can't wipe the smile from my dial .Already booked again for next June. Thanks to Colin and Carnarvonite for the heads up on a few things it pays to do your homework when going somewhere secluded like that. Mind you there were a group of cavemen up there who would go out and fish and drink all day not a good combo methinks, first beers were cracked for us when the boat was on the trailer.

First Mackie

Wednesdays Catch

Friday Reds finally!

A bloody happy skipper!

The Stoinka!

Happy crew!

Yeah definately owe you a beer. Mainly fished west and south west so we could ride the the seabreezes in. I did think I might give your record a run at one stage there as we knew we had a ripper, 15kg is an absolute cracker. We have tentavely booked for next June. Caught up with wade on our last day, good lad. Will call you soon.
