Gibb River Barra
Submitted by Exmouth Hunter on Mon, 2015-03-23 07:23
Good Morning all,
i will be travelling the Gibb River Road with my wife and two boys in June, provided I don't burst with excitement in the lead up.
Living in Exmouth the boys have had a few scuffles with Mangrove Jack but I really want them to brawl with a Barra as part of this adventure.
Would love some advice from any crew that have been there done that. We have a tinny and a camper so a short camping trip from the road is okay.
Cheers,
Geoff.

Thanks mate,
I know it's not the best time of year for them, just need to get lucky so the boys can get a photo and eat their catch.

Mate when you get to the Pentecost river crossing
catch some livies and give them a crack on the north side of the crossing in the deeper water..
have caught many that time of year on live mullet..
I've spent half my life fishing.. The other half I have wasted..

Was there at that time last year and the odd person caught them at the river camp ground at Home Valley Station on live mullet but was hard work.

Kunnunarra
When you reach the east end try Ivanhoe crossing at Kununurra, a livey just below the crossing works well, watch out for the lizzards they grow pretty big

I've been told about
I've been told about Ivanhoe. Definitely will be having a crack. Might have to send the missus and kids into town and just go out there with the boys.
