Was out there friday night
Was out there friday night without any luck. Was 4 boats around me without any luck either, 1 bloke pulled up a ray but that was it.
Definately worth getting out there but, I'll be out there again shortly.
Was talking to a couple of bloke that were out all day at the boat ramp. They cleaned up with a few big snapper, diferent cod and dhu's. They were out around the reef all day.
Good luck

Bugger that doesn't sound too
Bugger that doesn't sound too promising.
I am planning to have a bash out that way this weekend if I can get a (somewhat) decent break in the weather!
When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

advice -
Its important to drive around using your sounder to find pink snapper than just fish a bit of reef/ground.
Sunrise, high tide and the anglers almanac feed periods give you the best opportunitys.
Scaly mackerel for bait with two snelled hooks/80lb mono trace line and a small ball sinker.
All the best

Hey Pom
I'd be having a look at the forecast before commiting to go out on Saturday.
20-25knt NNW looks pretty crap to me.

pretty standard weather
pretty standard weather pattern, good weather during the week and shit weather on the weekend.
i'll be calling in sick when my lowrance combo arrives, fishing during the week is much more relaxing, getting paid also helps.

Depends where you mean by GI?
Depends where you mean by GI? Inside or outside? Outside can get pretty nasty with the shallow reefs and a bit of swell

very ambitious
i would forget about going to the five fathon bank in a 4mtr tinny.
i've got a boat the same size with a 2011 honda four stroke and just behind carnac or garden island is my limit.
and for me there is no point going out if the wind is over about 12 knots, the boys get beaten up / very wet.

Yeh around FFB this time of year / or any really in a 4m tinny without experience out there is not a good idea. Even in close to GI can get pretty nasty. I have a 5m runabout and have turned back a few times when the swell gets up.
There is always the d9 and surrounds, always good for some fun on light tackle!
