FWA the mag

I have just received this mths copy. Its time to see whats real and whats not. Front cover "Western Australia's Best selling Fishing Publication" I would like to know how they came to that conclusion and to supply proof!!!

page 40- love to know how a bucket fish thinks ?
and following charter boats works as well!!

page 48- large statement guys!  "we're going to show you a new deep water rig that we've developed" re rig sorry been using them myself, lost a heap to sharks just recently and guess what fellows does not out catch the basic dropper system (the so called we developed was first used 12 years ago in New Zealand )

page50_- "trying to stop these fish without a harness and super tough tackle is futile"
What a load of crap i stop them with 30 pound line and basic rod and reel with no stand up or harness so does my missus.

Tosses mag where it belongs in the bin.  Look forward to next mths see how much smoke they try to blow up my ass then.

Can't comment on the rest of your statements Ian,

But did think the deep sea live bait article was great and the Exmouth one certainly highlighted the lack of Info compared to mine in Hotbite, even thou mine was only a readers contribution and I was word limited.

I do think that it is about time that they went to glossy paper thou, as I thought previous issues were being printed on triple recycled paper and made it a lot less attractive and more like a newspaper.

What will be interesting is to see what the new pricing structure will be?  And what sort of content they will start filling it with and if it will remain a monthly issue.

Adam i agree with the mag paper is woeful ,i get the feeling that with hotbite and other paperback mags are driving them out of that market place .so glossy mag has less compertition so play there instead, pricing would be about the same as the others  i would think?

I would assume their current price wouldn't remain the same.. Printing on glossy paper is going to cost a lot more and I would expect a rise in price to maintain their profits.

After going through the three magazines for the past month:

Wangler has good content and writing skills and information, but is the most pricey and less regular.

FWA's paper just turns me off reading it fully, some of the articles were extremely informative and some pretty good pictures.. Justice to the photos hasn't been done with the paper quality.

Hotbite is the best for value, pretty good articles, lacks a bit of substance with quantity as there are a lot of advertisements, but still overall my choice and why I decided to submit an article to them.

Still, a good choice of magazines to choose from to be entertained.. Get all of them each month and is interesting when comparing each one to the other.

It apears the word about the traps is $6.95  for the new mag and that outlets may be asked to pay for them up frount . If that is the case i know of 3 stores that will not be stocking it ,they dont wish to get caught with unsalable stock .

Great bunch of magazines I look forward to reading them every month, We buy H.B, F.W.A and W.A mags if you get my drift.

Alot of people will jump on fautls etc, but most forget it takes alot of hard work to bring together a top fishing magazine.

Good on them in the first place to bring WA the very best in fishing magazines.
