Freaky Loonies storys (pipidinny)
Hi guys,
We were just having a talk about fishing loonies. Quite a few weird storys came up.
I was told never to talk about it because we may be locked up at graylands and they would chuck away the key haha.
We had a ufo sighting up close there. Not saying it was alien, could of been something secret from Pearce airforce base?? Wont go to much into that because you had to be there to understand what went on that night.
Other story was just told but some guys that never bullcrap even after a few beers said that they were fishing till 2am and retreated back to the 4wd. They had a little camp fire going and there were around 5 of them. They were the only ones on the beach or so they thought.
The only light from them was coming from the fire and as they were standing around talking some guy walked straight through the middle of them and kept walking, didnt look at them, didnt say anything just passed through between them and disappeared down the beach. Now thats a long way from anywhere to be taking a night stroll down the beach. Couple of these guys tried to say gday but the guy walked straight through like the guys werent there. It apparently had them stunned for hours after.
I have always known it as loonies and found out why on my first trip there with the UFO incident and no i wasnt on drugs or drinking, none of us did that kind of stuff.
Seeing as though its had the name loonies for some time before i knew it im thinking there must be more storys.
Please add to this, maybe a good idea for a up & coming article ;)

Many years ago we stayed at
Many years ago we stayed at Quobba station and one night the Jackeroo (older bloke, piss head you know the type) invited himself around for beers etc. Well we couldn't get rid of him at the end of the night. The gennie used get turned off at around 10 and we had candles etc. After saying goodnight etc he stayed sitting at his chair in the dark. We could see the ember of his smoke in the dark and I remeber saying to my mate I've got a big lump of wood stashed and would belt him with it if he tried anything. Anyway next morning Mike Meecham knocked on the door asking if we'd seen him which we answered no, as Mike was a man not to be trifled with. So on our way out to Garths we find the Jackaroo's Suzuki 4wd in a ditch next to a grid abandoned (must have gone for a night drive, the suzi had no lights) We asked Mike later about the Jackeroo the answer was "Gone" You get some strange F$&^&ers up that way.

I was about to mention Smithy LOL
Loonie is as loonie is. Not too many "straight" people up that way at night. So much so I don't fish up that way a lot these days.
If you really want an experience up that way head further north through the farm on the way to Woodridge. The farmer has a gun (or several) and he is not afraid to use it!!!!!!

Creepy coast
Most would know the Alkimos story yea? thats out off pipidinny if you believe in that stuff. Whole stretch of coast from Jurien to northern suburbs always has an eerie feel to me at night. Lots of shipwreck history and drowned sailors washed up into the hundreds stretching back for over three centuries.

i`ve been fishing and camping
i`ve been fishing and camping up there since the mid 80`s and never come across anything
other than the odd vehicle roll over or idiot bogged in the waves or a guy that put his gas light in
the back of his car while it was still hot and it exploded burning his car out.it`s going to be interesting
to see what peolpes stories are as i go up there quite often with just myself and the dog and 8yr old
daughter and camp the night during summer.might have to start taking the rifle as well.

Saw what was either the worlds biggest cat or a great dane taking a casual stroll driving past yanchep once. I wasn't the only one that saw it either, there was another car that slowed down when it crossed the road too.

Oh well i will tell the UFO
Oh well i will tell the UFO story.
From about age 10 i had heard of "Loonies" and allways wanted to do an overnighter there with my uncles. I got the opportunity when i was around 18. We drove up and found a nice little spot and reversed up.
Opened the tailgate and fished till 2am ish then decided to hop in the 4wd and catch a few zzz. Least a couple hours sleep. We were facing the dunes and at around 3am i noticed what looked like high beams , really bright going from left to right behind the dunes like it was a 4wd making its was through the tracks coming towards us. I said to my uncle " looks like we wont be the only ones on the beach for first light fish".
The lights kept doing the same thing shining left to right and mega bright then a object/light rose up from behind the dune hovering and moving left to right pretty quickly. It looked around 8-10 meters across. I hopped out the 4wd, my uncles said not to and said get back in. but for the brief time i was outside i didnt hear a noise. What ever it was was around 100 meters max away from us and just sitting there. it then just shot off, gone.
I was told not to tell anyone haha Oh well. It was really freaky and this is exactly how we seen it.
No idea to this day what the hell it was

Wilbinga
We used to frequent wilbinga on a weekendly basis years ago. Once me and my bro, old man, uncles and cousins were up there, and I left the campfire to go for a piss. Walked around a bush and was face to face with a cow. Nearly shit my pants.

Once fishing off Rocko towards the south just watching the ocean
All the Markers was flashing their normal red/green pattern. An eary feeling fell on all four off us about 18yo's. We actually said something feels spooky. Then looking at the lights they all flashed weird, not in rhythm etc. We all saw it, but being 18yo kept our mouths shut but did we get freaked by this. Shit yeh! Felt like something was watching us.
We still talk about the freaky night.
