Frankland River near Nornalup fishing advice?

Hey guys,

Heading to Nornalup (staying in one of the chalets there) just after Easter. I'm very green to fishing in WA and would greatly appreciate any advice or tips for the kind of fish to go after down there and what bait/lures I'd need?

I would be fishing from the river bank where the chalets are and also trying my hand from the kayak.

Cheers doods!

Plenty of Black Bream in that area. You can catch them on either prawns, soft plastics or small vibe lures.

Great stuff Poltergeist, much appreciated. I'm also doing some reading with people having good success with small hard bodies.

I'm not experienced at all with lure fishing but keen to give it a crack.

There's a nice land based spot next to the traffic bridge that crosses the river.  You can catch plenty of bream there, using bait or small hardbody lures (had much success using Cranka Cranks).  Whether land or kayak based, keep the lures as close to the structure and cover as possible.  Also, when bait fishing, don't be surprised if your bait gets taken by a ray- they have no respect for Bream gear!

One of the best Bream rivers

One of the best Bream rivers in WA. Lookup bream fishing techniques, craploads of info on the internet. The Walpole-Nornalup inlet(s) is good, more variety of fish and spots to try especially if your landbased. From Rest-Point caravan park round to Sandy Beach is a good stretch. The town jetty (kinda behind the pub/motel) is also ok. Send us a pm if u like

From what i hear in the inlet you can catch skippy, whiting, herring, bream, giant herring, flathead, gummy sharks, the list goes on!

At this time of the year i'd personally be targetting bream on soft plastics worked slowly or bait, a bit cold for hard bodies.
