flathead in the swan

went snorkling around rockybay on the weekend plenty of juvinille snapper , bream , tarwhine ,letherjacket and of course flathead just wondering if there are 2 species in there cause some are real big like 75 cm and reaaly brown while the others only seem to get to 45cm and are really light cream colour but both have the yellow band on their tail fin ???

just had a better look the only parks are near pelican point and alfred point can anyone explain this to me please

You cant spear fish in marine
You cant spear fish in marine parks, correct, but in the fisheries guide it says "All inland waters (rivers, tributaries and dams) are closed to spearfishing.". So regardless where any parks are in the river, its still a river. http://www.fish.wa.gov.au/docs/pub/WestLimits/westcoast_rules_2011.pdf
However, you now know where some flatties are so can hit up those spots with some lures or baits.
If the flatties have a yellow bar on their tail they're all bartail. They can vary in colouration though. It may be that the bigger ones preferred different areas so were different colours?

but you are right having a look at the underwater world lets you know where they prefer to live so you know where to fish
