My world is opening up a little too, my eldest started full time school too, so that's 2 (weather being the other) out of the usual 10 or so obstacles out of my way. I can actually jag Wednesday but my motor is broken. Anyone got a deck spot up for grabs Wednesday???
Went out to seaward of Garden isl - Carnac isl today wed . Was not as calm as predicted. Wind N.W but at 15 knots . The fog was a real pea souper with around 200- 300meters visibility had to navigate using the chart plotter. Water was clear with no surge, plenty of under size crays but was able to get quota with 2 jewies to boot. A lot of people went out heaps of sickies. Allin all not a bad day.
Flat as first thing, didn't drop under 25knots all the way out to the high 40's but the fish were not feeding, sounder alight at times but very little biting, couple of undersized snapper, a dhu that was exactly 50cm so went straight back and a six foot hammerhead that almost spooled me on light gear before I finally coaxed him back ......love these sharks, truly prehistoric looking. strong current running from the north and when the wind finally puffed it was NNW . heaps and heaps of boats out, I'm retired so I had an excuse but boats everywhere so lots of Flexi / sickies being taken
