Hey guys, I got myself a newer boat last weekend, its a 4.8m trailcraft and have been waiting all week to get her out. Just curious and not asking for any spots but is there much to be caught out the back of garden island?? I dont mind going a few k out the back of the island but not ready to head out around rotto yet. Im hoping to break a few pb's with the new rig and havent caught a local snapper, salmon or dhufish yet coz my previous boat was a old dinghy and spent most of my time fishing in and around the cockburn sound. Thanx for any advice

Gday ford 85
you'll be struggling to get gps marks but the five fathom bank runs south starting well behind garden island then headed towards rockingham. The same reef system also runs north almost to rottnest. bottom fishing can be very patchy there if your not familiar with the ground but there is some good fish to be had.
when i was fishing it regularly i would berly up and float live baits out targeting sambos and kingies.
anyways give it a crack!
