Go Tailor fishing, you usually get a decent amount of 40-55cm fish around spring, just go to the normal tailor spots on dusk

Hi Danny,   Probably the

Hi Danny,

Probably the key to success in the metro area is to target a particular species of fish and fish often. If it's tailor you are after, fish on changing light (dawn and dusk) and you can't go wrong with a pilchard on gang hooks in a paternoster rig - or if conditions are favourable baitcasting.

Just to go through a few popular metro spots - Woodman's Point, North Mole, Cottesloe Groyne, Trigg Beach, Floreat Drain, Hillarys. If you are prepared to go a bit further afield I would recommend trying up around Yanchep and Two Rocks. Spots like the Cut, Narrows and Point Walter apparantly hold a lot of chopper tailor at the right times.

As the weather warms up you might be a chance of landing a soapie (young mulloway) especially in the next couple of months or small sharks such as port jacksons.

If it's bread and butter fish you are chasing (gardies, herring, whiting, etc) - well burley is the key and most spots will produce all year round. Herring are more prolific in the warmer months.

My experience fishing in the metro area over the past twelve months has not been fantastic. I prefer to drive a bit further away from town for my land based fishing. But if you're willing to put the hours in to metro fishing there are some great fish to be caught - posts on this forum are testament to that.

Cheers,

Buschy
