Fishing Steep Point

I have fished Shark Bay for several years , generally off Turtle Bay and Dampier Reef.I have been very lucky and have never been blown out but I know that some trip I will.In all the years going up there I have never given fishing Landbased off Steep Point a
second thought.
What set ups do you use for fishing off Steep for chucking poppers and lures .Interested in hearing about rods selection and lengths to suit my saltigas.I have an 8' Pe4-6 for chucking poppers from the boat but not sure if its long enough for land based.
It will only be day trips or maybe an overnight trip as we usually have a house in Denham.
Cheers Vince

Hey Vince that rod would probably be fine but no shorter. Generally it's good to throw deep diving hard body's like rapal cd 14 bombers etc. metals and poppers are also an option.
A ballooning outfit is definately worth taking and some sort of broomstick for snapper fishing off the clues ie fsu5120.
Other equipment like cliff gaffs, generators and all the fruit. Plus a permit to stay.
On another note I have been meaning to contact you I keep breaking the plastic knob on my penn talon. I am gonna get it modified at work, let me know if you have the same problem with yours and I will get it fixed for you.
