Fishing saturday for salmon - dunsborough

hey guys im new hereSmile

tomorrow afternoon im going down to dunsborough and im going to try my luck and try catch a salmon, i went last week and hooked one up but my line got tangled around my reel and lost it, 2 other friends managed to hook them up and they were 79 and 82cm. I will be fishing all day saturday and hope to catch some, i will post pics!

Now i need a little bit of advice, im only 15 and have only been fishing for a few months now so dont know too much and this will be the biggest fish ive ever caught if i do get one.

I was wondering what lure I should use? last time i used a metal twisty one..should i use that again or should i try some gangs and a mulie? Also the rod and reel im using is a 10ft silstar rod with a penn slamer reel and 300m of 20lb line, but the line is really thin...the guy said it was equivalent to a 12lb line but its as stong as 20lb..will this be enough?

any advice will be great

cheers Johny.

Hell yeah mate you'll have no troubles on that at all, just set your drag loose and you'll have no problems what so ever.

I'd use 20lb line max ! so you'll be fine , metal lures work great for me , try a 30g to 55g size or right up to 60 if you like they will eat just about anything when they are on the bite.

Mulies are a great option when you dont wanna be casting again and again all day but you can also cast them out like a lure with no sinker and that works fine too.

Good luck man, if it all works out i may be down there aswell. where will you be ?

you've probably read on other threads but i cant suggest strongly enough to pack a couple of 'smiling jack' lures.
$13 from the BP and about $17 from the shell servo in Dunno.
these things are killer, proven themselves this season big time. cast ok too. the sports store prob also has em, but you'll be fighting half of Perth for one, not to mention a spot on the rocks or in the water. good luck with that. thank crap i'm outta town for the weekend.
