Fishing exmouth help!

Hey I'm at exmouth and hired a 4.5m tinny with a 40hp
I'm going out from tandabitty when I go through the reef how far south should I head and how deep roughly for reef fish? I think I was fishing 100m plus today and only got a ruby and heaps of tuna
Don't have a GPS or sounder just going blind, what's a good depth tho?
I'm gonna troll for maccies In the morning how far from
The reef should I be?
I really appreciate your input,
Cheers Troy

Hey Troy, go about 1km past

Hey Troy, go about 1km past the last channell markers, and then go left, driving paralell to the reef. The mackies we got onto were around that area, around the 25m mark in depth. Hope this helps you buddy. Good luck.

Let me know how you go. Cheers Fab.

Troling the 15-25m mark heading north is good (short bit of reef) plus the Southern reef in the same depth.

Mix it up with deep diver lures and mid divers, run in tide the best and having a miror teaser a must.

Troy - I found trolling for

Sun, 2014-03-02 17:39

Troy - I found trolling for mackies during the main part of the day was very quiet. To increase your chances of catching a mackie make sure your lines are in the water a little before sunrise. Also late afternoon I found to be much more productive. I trolled for about 3-4 hours during the day for just one hook up that got its arse chewed by a shark!! The next day we trolled about 400-500m off the back of the reef and killed it.

Good luck!
