Fisheries after whale information
Submitted by Willlo on Thu, 2015-06-04 13:35
Just heard on the radio that fisheries are after info on whale migration from the commercial sector,to determine if we have a hump back migration highway off our coast. Now i am starting to feel a bit jaded and suspect about giving these guys any info in case it gets used to limit access to certain areas. It will be up to the commercial sector if they do or dont in the long run anyway,i was wondering if any out there were starting to feel the same way. Or am i just old and a bit paranoid and sick of being told where i can and cant fish.

Paranoid skeptical suspicious naaarh why would you be
Just because you are thinking that if the study shows what we all know that the whales do have a highway up and down the west coast and have had for the last 20 years.
Why would you be paranoid, sceptical or even suspicious of what fisheries would do with the info, well I'll tell you why you should be all of the above.
Once fisheries have observations confirming the whale movements of the coast then the whales shall be deemed to right of passage.
Now that will mean that all those who set cray pots off the coast in waters deeper than a couple of metres will have to modify the ropes on the pots in such a manner that they don't pose a entanglement risk to the whales on their annual migration
Which IMO is fair enough, however, once the information gets leaked from fisheries the black witch (P. E. W. aka greenies ) shall rise from the deep and demand that cray fishing shall only be permitted in water shallower than 1 metre to protect the whales.
Just like they jumped up and down about fishing in the Rottnest Island trench to protect the rare pink spotted yellow striped arctic midget whale.
Hell am I getting paranoid sceptical and suspicious.

I agree with both of
I agree with both of you.
There is no "highway" as such.
How do I know? Many years of longlining and seafaring way beyond the shelf showed me that whales are also migrating way out there.
There is no narrow "hiway" that they all use-crap.
When the stupid greenies (as opposed to the smart ones of which there ARE a few) yes it will be used as leverage via stupid online petitions signed by stupid people brainwashed with stupid ideas by smart people with agendas such as PEW, PETA etc.
Vegans will be involved somewhere Im certain along with the odd stupid celebrity who has been either brainwashed or shamed into supporting such a worthy cause as "saving the whales and dolphins from mass destruction".
Jeez whats happening to me
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.

Our official reply to PEW!
Bloody things should learn to watch were there going if there so switched on and smart!
Dont see me walking into a pole every time I take the pit bulls for a walk in my fur coat!
Yeah it does get hard to see the posistives for us , when some self interest group, heads up another
survey, or study ( not in this case of course) .
If they can wrap up the Perth canyon from a relative few handful of anglers going for a marlin troll,
cause of the already fully protected pygmy whale, then its hard not to be synical as a angler when the
word Whale is mentioned.
Every post I have ever read on hear , when a angler see,s whales , is full of wonder and awe and these amazing creatures
and blind freddy could tell there numbers are slowly returning to pre whaling levels ( still a long time to go of course).
I like alot on here are getting sick and tired on being preached too , by overseas , hypocritical groups, and we need to fight
for our rights in our own country.
Chins up lads, we still enjoy world class fishing on our doorsteps, and we live in a great country were its not a crime to stand up for what you believe in!
