Sounds like good fun. No
Sounds like good fun. No surprise to me that you got a pinkie at Pt Walter. It's closer to the river mouth than Claremont & I've caught heaps of them at both spots.
Just because I smile & nod does not mean I believe the crap coming out of your mouth.

Same Here
I was down there early that morning with two of my boys as well. Also caught plenty of whiting and a small pinkie which the boys happily released. Good size crab and flatty for my eldest boy made it a good morning. Whiting very tasty...

Damn Blowies
I caught all the whiting that morning by casting out a fair distance from the edge of the jetty. The blowies were all hanging around the jetty itself. I was using squid on my standard whiting rig. Paternoster with 3 dropper loops down to a light snapper sinker at the end. Number 8 long shank hook on each loop. Cast then wait for it to sink. If no action start slow retrieve. This is usually enough to hook them. Bit of fun when not much else happening. They were all quite small but if you get enough they make a good entree. That's also what we used for bait to catch the crab.
